III. PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS ENCOUNTERED BY THE COMMUNITY
Barangay Sun Valley experiences several problems in distinct aspects; necessary precautions are needed in order to adhere to the development of the community as a whole.
1. Problem: Poor infrastructures
Solutions: look for ways to raise funds to develop the infrastructures (such as: roads, buildings, etc). The development of these infrastructures will be of great use when disasters strike since roads, buildings & homes will be safer & sturdier.
As well as when business investors want to invest on a land in the barangay due to the structure of these buildings. As a result, it may increase the economy of a barangay and unplift their economic state.
2. Problem: Fire
Solutions: Sun Valley Barangay contains homes that are closely tight to one another so once a fire in one household occurs, it quickly spreads like wildfire to other households asl well. A solution is to hold more barangay wide fire drills so they are aware & alert on what to do when there is a fire. They should have more activities, seminars & programs that discuss about fire prevention and possible fire hazards.
Lastly, they should have more fire trucks and firemen so more people can respond to the fire quicker to prevent the fire from spreading and to lessen casualties in infrastructures, businesses and lives.
3. Problem: Employment or Lack of Job Oppurtunities for its people
Solution: The population in Sun Valley Barangay increases rapidly. An estimate of 10,000 people every two years to be exact. We believe that they should provide more job oppurtunities to the people of Sun Valley. Ways such as finding ways to attract foreign & local investors to start up businesses which will eventuallyresult to these companies hiring employees within the community.
4. Problem: Polluted Sewage System Resulting to Floods
Solution: The Philippines experiences natural calamities yearly, most especially typhoons & flash floods. The barangay should first fix & clean their sewage systems then afterwards start implementing strict rules to its people when it comes to proper disposal of waste in order to prevent clogging of these sewages. Therefore, slowly but surely the barangay would not experience intense floods in their place in the near future.
5. Problem: Improper Disposal of Waste
Solution:
‐ Community: The local barangay officials should implement a certain process in the collecting of
these wasted per household, for a cleaner & healthier environment for its people to live in.
Another possible solution for the local government officials is to divide the collection of wastes
and give certain schedules to the collectors of the wastes in the districts for the gathering of the
waste/s to be quicker & much more efficient.
- Household: Each household must contribute to the proper disposal of wastes as well, for this
system to work. They should properly segregate their trashes and place them in their assigned
locations.
6. Problem: Crime Rate
Solution: In order for the government officials of the barangay to lessen the crime rates they should strictly implement their rules, hire more policemen, and build police stations per district for its people to be and feel safer.
7. Problem: Establishment and Development of Rehabilitation/Evacuation Centers
Solution: For the safety of the people in Sun Valley Barangay, they should develop and build more rehabilitation and evacuation centers for emergencies or when calamities strike the place. A wider area, practical location of these centers (each district), more centers must be built to ensure the safety and easy access of these facilities during calamities. Not only must they build more of these centers, although they must learn to properly allocate their resources so that each district’s center will have equally distributed in to the victims.
A certain process should be made when people transit to their nearest evacuation centers for a more efficient and quicker way. They should be provided seminars, programs, or talks to attend to monthly just so they may gain knowledge on how they must evacuate their people. The people of Sun Valley should not only relay on the professional emergency departments to attend to them, they should have basic knowledge on what to do when different situations occur during a calamity.
